Jacktook also allows you to choose your preferred streaming method, via a Debrid service (paid) or via Torrents (free).
2. Configuring Jacktook
Jacktook allows different types of configurations suited for different kind of users. To use this addon, you must select a streaming method and an indexer.
There are 2 streaming methods: cached-torrents via a Debrid service or normal Torrents via the Elementum or Torrest addons.
– If you use a Debrid service, all torrents are cached by the Debrid servers and you access the files via HTTPS, which is encrypted by SSL/TSL. Your IP address is never exposed to the P2P network, but a premium account from Real Debrid is required.
– If you use Torrents, you connect directly to the P2P network using Torrest, a Kodi addon specialized in torrent streaming. Connecting to the torrent network is free, but your IP address is exposed. Depending on your geographical location, you might need to use a VPN to protect your privacy.
Now let’s talk about indexers. There are 4 indexers available: Torrentio, Elfhosted/knightCrawler, Prowlarr and Jackett. Torrentio and Elfhosted offer public instances, while Prowlarr and Jackett need to be installed on your PC or on a seedbox.
– Public indexers like Torrentio or Elfhosted are fine for most users, since they scrape sources from a set of popular torrent websites and require no installation.
– On the other hand, self-hosted indexers like Prowlarr or Jackett require installation and configuration, but allow you to control which websites to scrape in order to find sources. This is specially useful if you’re looking for torrents in other languages or if you have access to private torrent trackers..
